Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Design Services

BESS Design & Engineering Services

Battery Energy Storage System design requires coordinated mechanical, electrical, enclosure and layout engineering to meet project requirements. Sedin Engineering provides BESS design support for new and existing systems, covering system layouts, electrical design, mechanical and enclosure design, thermal management and engineering documentation.

We develop the overall BESS configuration around the project's power and energy requirements, operating conditions, equipment and available space. This includes sizing the system and defining how the major components work together to meet the project requirements.

  • BESS sizing and system configuration
  • Battery and PCS configuration
  • Equipment arrangement and system architecture
  • Component interfaces
  • Space, clearance and access requirements

Our BESS Design Process

We start by understanding the project requirements and available design information, then develop and refine the BESS design around the equipment, space, interfaces and manufacturing requirements. The process can be adapted based on whether we are developing a new design or working with an existing one.

1. Requirements & design review

We review the project requirements, equipment specifications, available design data, site constraints, and system interfaces. If you already have a design, we review the existing CAD models and drawings to understand the current configuration and identify what needs to change.

2. BESS engineering development

We develop the BESS design based on the agreed engineering scope. Mechanical, electrical and layout requirements are coordinated as the design takes shape, with attention to manufacturability, assembly, access and equipment integration.

3. Design review & deliverables

We review the completed design against the project requirements, checking equipment arrangement, thermal and ventilation requirements, access, and applicable safety provisions. After incorporating your feedback, we finalize the design and deliver the required documentation in your preferred formats.

Our deliverables include:

  • CAD models
  • Mechanical, electrical, layout and enclosure drawings
  • BOMs
  • Technical documentation

Frequently Asked Questions

BESS Design Services FAQs

Our battery energy storage system design services can include system configuration, mechanical and electrical design, enclosure and cabinet design, equipment layouts, 3D CAD modeling, engineering drawings, BOMs and other project-specific documentation.
Yes. We can work with existing BESS CAD models, drawings, PDFs, and other engineering data. We can modify or redesign the system for new equipment, project requirements, manufacturing needs, or layout changes, while identifying opportunities to optimize space utilization, equipment arrangement, accessibility and manufacturability.
The information required depends on the project. In most cases, we need details such as system power and energy requirements, battery and PCS specifications, equipment dimensions, site or installation constraints, electrical interfaces, operating conditions and any existing CAD models or drawings.
Yes. We design custom BESS enclosures and battery storage containers based on the equipment, space, thermal, access, installation, and manufacturing requirements. Our scope can include 3D CAD models, internal equipment arrangement, mounting provisions, structural details, cable routing provisions and manufacturing drawings.
Look for a BESS design company with experience in mechanical, electrical, enclosure, layout, and documentation requirements. The right engineering partner should also be able to adapt the design to your equipment, application, operating requirements, and project scope. Sedin Engineering provides multidisciplinary BESS design support for new and existing systems, with engineering solutions tailored to project requirements.
